Aluminium windows.
Sliding, casement, top-hung and fixed windows, each frame cut to the opening it fills.

01What it is
Aluminium windows, explained.
An aluminium window is a frame of extruded aluminium sections, cut and joined to the size of the opening, glazed, and fixed into the wall. Aluminium does not rot, swell or warp through a monsoon, and a slim section can carry a large pane.
The decision that matters most is how the window opens. It sets how much air you get, how tightly it closes against driving rain, and how much room it needs inside and out.
Where it suits
- New houses, and timber windows that have swollen, rotted or been eaten
- Bathrooms and kitchens, where damp ruins timber
- Apartments, offices and shops
02The kinds
5 ways it is made.
-
Sliding
Panels slide past each other. Needs no swing room, opens to about half its width.
-
Casement
Hinged at the side and opens outward. Opens fully and closes tight.
-
Top-hung
Hinged at the top. Can stay open in light rain.
-
Fixed
Does not open. The most glass and light for the money.
-
Louvre
Adjustable glass blades. Constant air, never a full seal.
